Hard work ahead
Hard work ahead
Sunday, 09 July 2017

This was the second weekend in Townsville Supercars race history where a safety car did not make an appearance over the event weekend; possibly because they had been quite busy during many of the support category races. Nick struggled in qualifying today, and the changes the team made didn’t suit the changed track conditions. In the unusual qualifying position of 20th, Nick was aware he would have his work cut out for him today.

After being a part of some great on-track battle packs Nick had gained position and in the final laps was closing in on others in front. He finished in 16th position, overall a difficult weekend for the McHitch team and BJR. The team will head back to the workshop this week, and complete their second test day of the year between the Townsville and Ipswich events.

Nick Percat:

“It was an interesting weekend. We really didn’t get the car where we wanted to, whilst we had some pace there at the end of today’s race it was difficult to get past some of the cars in front.”

“We’ve got a lot of work to do between now and Ipswich. We’ve got a test day in between rounds and we’re pretty eager to start working on moving our cars forward together as a group. We’ve seen some hints of really good potential and I know everyone is keen to see that on a consistent basis. So plenty of work ahead in the coming weeks.”
